Named in part after the 1920's expression of excited excellence, referring to something being the best or most innovative, and our own owner Catherine Bennett's childhood nickname, Cat. Catherine started the business in 1996 out of her home after making the decision to stay home to raise her children, but wanting to supplement the family income. She was instantly excited with the idea of trying her hand at monogramming and embroidery. Through the years, the business flourished as the customer base grew rapidly. The family dining room converted into a store soon became too small. The hard work paid off and with a faithful customer following the decision was made to open a storefront. The location was chosen in Des Peres, MO just moments from the Bennett home and opened on Halloween 2008. Not long after, in July 2009, the space next door was added, doubling the store to what it is today. Catherine has been joined by an incredible staff dedicated to continuing excellent customer service and endless creativity. The attention to detail given to each item in unsurpassed in the industry, creating the Cat's Meow experience.
